Getting good sleep is just as important as eating healthy and exercising when you have diabetes! 😴 Poor sleep can make it much harder to manage your blood sugar, while a good night’s rest helps your body use insulin better and keeps your energy up .
When you don’t get enough sleep, your body releases more stress hormones like cortisol, which raises blood sugar and makes you more insulin resistant. Too little (or too much) sleep can also lead to cravings for sugary foods, weight gain, and less motivation to exercise—making diabetes control even tougher .
Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night, and try to stick to a regular sleep schedule. If you have trouble sleeping or think you might have sleep apnea, talk to your doctor—better sleep can make a big difference in your diabetes management!
